Deirdre
Lobo-d’Cunha |
Soprano
Born in Bombay, India, Deirdre
Lobo-D’Cunha began her musical
training under her mother, Celia
Lobo, opera singer and voice
teacher. Deirdre attained her
Bachelor of Music degree, University
of Santo Tomas, Philippines;
Master’s Degree, University of
Colorado, Boulder; and Post-Graduate
Diploma, Peabody Conservatory of
Music, Baltimore, MD. She has
studied with Marilyn Zschau, Phyllis
Bryn-Julson, and now with Voltaire
Verzosa. Deirdre performs
internationally as a solo concert
artist, as well as in opera and
recital. She has been soloist for
the Messiah (Handel), Creation
(Haydn), and Gloria (Vivaldi),
Soloists among others. She has a
busy music studio, and has taught
since 1980 in the Philippines,
India, and the United States.
Deirdre has conducted vocal
workshops in India and the USA. She
is choral director/cantor at St.
Matthew’s Church, San Mateo, and
drama director at Our Lady of Mercy
School, Daly City. Deirdre is
pleased to be a part of Viva la
Musica! Deirdre and her husband,
Neville, and son, Andre, live in
Daly City. This is Deirdre’s third
appearance as soloist with Viva la
Musica.

Casie Walker |
Soprano
Casie Walker, soprano, has enjoyed a
successful career both in opera and
concert work. She holds a Masters
Degree in Vocal Performance from
Southern Methodist University, where
she studied under mezzo-soprano
Virginia Dupuy. She is also a former
member of the Young Artist
Apprentice Program at the Santa Fe
Opera. Casie has sung with numerous
orchestras throughout the southwest.
One of the highlights of Casie’s
career was an opportunity to perform
for several years with the Robert
Shaw Festival Chorus in Western
Europe and the American Northeast.
Most recently she has enjoyed
performing in churches all over
California. Casie is currently the
director of the Rainbow Children’s
Choir at Los United Methodist
Church. This is Casie’s third
appearance as soloist with Viva la
Musica.

Elspeth Franks |
Mezzo-Soprano
British-born Elspeth Franks is known
for an unusually wide vocal range
and engaging and characterful stage
presence, and performs a wide array
of operatic and concert roles
throughout the mezzo, alto and
soprano repertoires. Franks’s
European debut was in performances
of Haydn’s Harmoniemesse in Munich,
Prague, Budapest and Vienna. Awarded
a Virginia Best Adams Fellowship at
the Carmel Bach Festival for the
2002 & 2003 seasons, Franks
returned there in 2005 as featured
soprano soloist. Franks debuted with
Virginia Opera in the role of Prince
Orlofsky (Die Fledermaus), and with
the Mark Morris Dance Group in New
York in the role of Commère (Four
Saints in Three Acts). Vocal
training has included scholarship
study at England’s prestigious Royal
Northern College of Music
(Manchester) and as a Rotary
International Foundation Scholar at
the University of Michigan, Ann
Arbor. Franks currently is a cantor
at St. Dominic’s Catholic Church,
and an Artist In Residence in the
Vocal Program at School Of The Arts.
Recent engagements have included
Purcell and Vivaldi solos with
Philharmonia Baroque Orchestra. This
is Elspeth’s second solo appearance
with Viva la Musica.

Corey Head | Tenor
Corey Head, tenor, has sung a wide
variety of operatic roles throughout
the US, including Ferrando in Così
fan Tutte, Don Curzio and Don
Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro, Goro
in Madama Butterfly, Frantz in Les
Contes D’Hoffmann, and Cecco in
Haydn’s Il Mondo Nella Luna. Corey
specializes in Early Music with a
special affinity for J.S. Bach. His
solo concert performances have
included Bach’s Magnificat,
Christmas Oratorio and many of his
cantatas. Other oratorio roles
include Ahasuereus in Handel’s
Esther, “The Evening” in Telemann’s
Die Tageszeiten and Handel’s
Messiah. Other appearances include:
Tenor Soloist in Orff’s Carmina
Burana with the Marin Symphony; The
Moor in Rimsky-Korsakov’s Mlada and
Charles Edward in Bernstein’s
Candide, both with the San Francisco
Symphony; soloist with the San
Francisco Choral Society for a
concert of two Magnificat works by
J.S. Bach and C.P.E. Bach; tenor
soloist for San Francisco Concert
Chorale in Britten’s Rejoice in the
Lamb and Mozart’s Requiem; the role
of “He” in William Boyce’s Solomon:
A Serenata and Jean Gilles’ Requiem,
both with San Francisco Renaissance
Voices. This is Corey’s second solo
appearance with Viva.

Jordan Eldredge |
Baritone
Jordan Eldredge, baritone, holds a
BM in classical voice from San
Francisco State University, where he
performed such roles as Papageno in
Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and the
title role in Kirke Mechem’s
Tartuffe. He also performs with
several Bay Area companies including
Sonoma City Opera and Pocket Opera,
where he recently performed roles
including Agamemnon in Offenbach’s
Belle Helen and Moralès in Bizet’s
Carmen. This is Jordan’s second
appearance as soloist with Viva la
Musica: last season he sang the
cantor solos in René Ochoa’s Misa
del Pueblo.

Peter Lemburg | Oboe
and Oboe D’Amore
Peter Lemberg is Principal Oboe with
the San Francisco Chamber Orchestra,
San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera
productions, West Bay Opera and San
Francisco Lyric Opera. He plays
frequently with the San Francisco
Opera (including Principal Oboe for
the 2009 production of Daughter of
the Regiment), as well as many of
the regional Bay Area orchestras and
opera companies. Peter has played
solo concerto performances with the
San Francisco Chamber Orchestra and
the Palo Alto Chamber Orchestra, and
recently played the west coast
premiere of the Concertino for Oboe
and Strings by Michael Gilbertson.
He plays in chamber music
performances and teaches privately
in the Bay Area.
