WHAT: Viva la Musica is pleased to announce it will be returning to New York City in 2009 to sing at Carnegie Hall, again, this time under their own director, Shulamit Hoffmann, who has been invited to conduct. Join Viva for this historic event. Sing on the venerated stage of Carnegie Hall with professional orchestra, professional soloists, and singers from around the country. Celebrate the centenary of Franz Josef Haydn by singing his magnificent and powerful “Lord Nelson” Mass (Misa in Angustiis).

ITINERARY:

  • Day 1: Travel and check in at the hotel (typically the Grand Hyatt New York or Hilton New York, near Times Square). The balance of the day is free
  • Day 2: Free Day for sight seeing.
  • Day 3: Morning or afternoon rehearsal with piano, 4 hours each day.
    Or both. The evening is free.
  • Day 4: Morning or afternoon rehearsal with piano, 4 hours each day.
    Or both. The evening is free.
  • Day 5: Dress rehearsal in Carnegie Hall. Afternoon and/or evening concert performance(s). Post concert celebratory cruise around lower Manhattan with buffet supper, music, dancing.
  • Day 6: Free Day
  • Day 7: Viva returns home

  • The cost for groupies is the same as for singers
  • Groupies receive the best seats in the house for performance and may attend rehearsals

  • It is suggested that participants budget $40-50 per diem for meals

  • Travel insurance should be seriously considered
  • If you find yourself unable to go on the trip after you have begun to make payments, you may find a replacement person who can take over any outstanding payments and who may reimburse you for payments you have made
